Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a former doctor now faces charges for committing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
