Per recent claims from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is preparing the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, declared in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to support her bid for executive mercy.

Specific details of the “commutation application” remain unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized exclusive visits for Maxwell and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and chance of unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other inmates, she was provided directions about instructing her contacts to call and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the official to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Other privileges allegedly granted to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a perk typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most detainees are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own connections to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the chief executive to deny the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant criminal,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for the convict with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, family or agents have made any promises to the President or his legal team.

The representative requested for a reply to the inquiries by 24 November.

In October, the US supreme court declined to hear an appeal from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
